How can the premium be paid?

Premiums can only be paid via Paypal.

 

Can this policy be taken out over the phone?

No - we only issue policies that are purchased online via the website.

 

Is this policy only available online?

Yes - currently this policy is only available online via the website.

 

Can I amend a policy once I have taken it out?

Yes you can, please follow this make an amendment link if you would like to do so.

 

I have recently purchased a policy but my documents have not been emailed?

The policy documents are emailed immediately after your payment has gone through. However, if you have not received these, it may be worth checking your Junk/Spam folder as they sometimes appear there.

 

Can this storage insurance be used to cover business or commercial goods and stock?

Yes, the policy can be used to cover both personal and business goods with the same acceptance conditions applying to both.

 

Can I view the policy document prior to taking out this insurance?

Yes, follow the link to view the policy document.

 

Are there are any contents which cannot be covered under this policy?

Yes, we cannot provide cover for flammable, illegal or explosive items, motor vehicles and their parts, as well items that have an individual value in excess of £10,000.

 

Is there a limit to the length of time I can arrange the policy for?

The policy can be purchased for a periods of 1-365 days. A further policy can then be arranged if you require for more than 365 days.

 

Can I cancel this insurance if I no longer have my goods in storage?

Yes, you can cancel this policy at any time and you will receive a full pro rata refund. Please use the make an amendment form if you wish to cancel.

 

How much should I insure the contents of my storage unit for?

You should insure the contents of your storage unit for the full replacement cost of the items contained in the unit as new.

 

Can this storage insurance policy be used to cover motor vehicles?

Unfortunately not, the policy specifically excludes motor vehicles and their parts and accessories.

 

Is there a limit to the amount of valuables this self storage insurance policy can cover?

Yes, there is an automatic limit of 10% of the total sum insured for valuables. Therefore, if you cover £30,000 of contents, then the limit of cover for valuables will be £3,000. There is also a single item limit for valuables of £1,000.

 

What is included in the term 'valuables'?

As per the policy document, valuables are defined as jewellery, watches, furs, items or sets or collections of gold, silver or other precious metals, works of art, sets of stamps, coins or medals all belonging to the policyholder.

 

Can pedal cycles be covered within this storage insurance policy?

Yes, however, there is a limit of £500 per pedal cycle in storage.

 

Does an excess apply to this storage insurance?

Yes, a £50 excess applies to each claim.

 

Is there a maximum amount that you can insure under this storage insurance policy?

Yes, the maximum amount you can cover is £99,999 per storage unit.

 

Is there a limit to how far in advance I can buy this storage insurance policy?

Yes, the policy can be purchased up to 30 days in advance of the start date of the policy.

 

Is this storage insurance policy renewable?

No, this storage insurance policy is non-renewable, although if you require further cover a separate policy can always be purchased to coincide with the end date of the initial policy.

 

Can this storage insurance policy cover my goods whilst I am overseas?

Yes, provided your goods are stored within England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland at one of our approved sites..

 

Can this storage insurance policy provide cover for valuables such as jewellery or watches?

Yes, however the cover is limited to 10% of the total sum insured and there is a £1,000 single article limit for valuables.

 

Can this storage insurance be used to cover multiple units at the same location?

No, if you have more than one storage unit, you will need to arrange separate policies for each individual unit.

What type of storage facility can this policy cover?

Most types of storage and self-storage facilities can be covered by this policy, including self-storage, containerised storage and wooden/metal crate storage, provided the facility is on our approved list of sites.

 

Can a new site be added to the list of acceptable sites?

Yes, we are continually adding new approved sites. If you would like us to consider adding a new professionally-run storage site to our list, please complete our suggest a new site form.

 

Can this policy cover storage facilities where the unit is made from a shipping container?

Yes, this policy can cover container sites, provided the facility is on our approved list of sites

 

Does this storage insurance policy cover storage units outside of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland?

No, only storage units within England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland that are on our approved list of sites can be covered by this policy.

 

Can this storage insurance policy cover items stored on farms?

No, only professionally-run sites which are on our pre-approved list of sites can be covered.

 

What type of lock is required to secure the unit?

Depending on the type of storage facility we require the unit to be secured by a key operated padlock or a key pad with your own personal number. Alternatively, a sealed crate is also acceptable.
